Media Mouse Trap

media mouse definition

A project based in Bicester for 13 to 19 year olds to learn film-making, and tell their own story to the world.

Media Mouse Trap will enable young people to question messages of conformity as depicted in the media, and tell their own story in their own way. The project will end with your very own red carpet film premier at which young people will be the stars of the show! This is an amazing opportunity not to be missed – contact us to apply now!

Who is it for?

We want to offer this great project to young people who are often overlooked by other opportunities, and find that they are not represented, their stories are not being told – they have been marginalised and are at risk of becoming invisible members of society.

What will you do?

A group of young people from different backgrounds with a story to tell will be formed for this project.  They will:

  • Work with professional artists from Jewson Film Productions to research, script, direct, film, edit and present a short film.
  • Learn all the technical roles in a film crew and make the film themselves.
  • Plan and attend a red carpet premiere event to show their completed film to an invited audience.
  • Learn digital photography techniques and keep a digital scrap book of their time on the project.
  • Get a qualification for doing the project - an Arts Award, which is on the National Qualifications Framework and can go on your CV.

Sounds like hard work? Don't worry. The project will run over several months, and you'll be supported to lead every stage of the project, building and increasing your confidence and skills for the future.

The details

The project starts on September 15th 2010, and the project needs to be finished by December 2010.

Participants must make a commitment to regular attendance at weekly sessions. Sessions run every Wednesday starting 15 September 2010, 4:30pm - 6:30pm in Bicester. Regular attendance is desirable.

Filming will take place over two whole days on the 25th and 26th Oct, half term.
